By Jack Weggeland, Staff Writer

With the dynamic duo, Principal Dr. Michael Roe and Athletic Director Mr. Jim Vaughn, Riverside Poly High School will soon be the “premier” school it once was. Together, the duo has successfully rebuilt our football program, hiring new coaches and attracting some of the area’s best talent to be part of Poly’s long and rich tradition.

This spring, a new varsity sport will be introduced to the students of Poly high.
“Last year we were talking about places where we could add sports and one place that we looked at, kids were showing interest in as well,” Vaughn said. The addition of a boys’ volleyball team will add to the excitement and enthusiasm building around Poly’s campus. Although there is no set try-out dates or calendar for the season, the boys’ volleyball team will be looking to compete in the Citrus Belt League against Redlands, Redlands East Valley and Citrus Valley, starting in early March and lasting until mid-May.

In regards to the team’s goals, Vaughn hopes to be very competitive and win CIF. The Athletic Director also hopes “to get the right person in there, start the program and build it into a perennial contender every year!”
