The U.S. Army All-American Bowl took place on January 3, in San Antonio, Texas, at the Alamodome. Nearly one hundred of the nation’s best high school football athletes participated in this huge event, including Riverside Poly’s Ykili Ross (12).

The U.S. Army All-American game is a popular and important nationwide event. At this event, college scouts look for new players that will be able to compete at a higher level. To be chosen to play in the game is an honor only awarded to excellent football players. Ross participated in the game and committed to the University of Southern California (USC) for football. He had a solid amount of playing time as a wide receiver, making some great offensive plays and catches during the game. Ross made a name for himself this year by working hard on the field until football was second nature to him. His speed and agility made him a stand out wide receiver and cornerback.

With dozens of Division I college offers on the table, Ross took his time in making his decision. Although eager to choose, Ross visited multiple campuses and recruiting camps until finally choosing USC. After the long process, Ross felt that he was most impressed by USC’s football program. “It was the most comfortable fit for me, and I loved everything about it,” Ross said.

Ross blew away the coaches, players and fans this season after a great year for Poly football. With nearly 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, Ross proved to be a dominant player that put up a challenge for opposing teams. Ending his high school career with great statistics and an All-American title, Ross looks forward to meeting his new teammates and wearing a Trojan jersey next season.
