METAMORPHOSIS: No longer the punch line of the media’s jokes, Lindsay Lohan regains control of her life . . . for now.

By Antonio Serros, Staff Writer

Gone now are the eleven o’clock mimosas, late nights in seedy Los Angeles clubs and truculent tabloid talk as Lindsay Lohan begins her new life . . . with Oprah of all people.

In the new mini-documentary series that airs on OWN, Lindsay opens up the Burn Book of her life for the public to see. Through the lens of acclaimed director Amy Rice, we follow Lindsay through her daily life of temper tantrums, late mornings and her search for the perfect apartment in Manhattan.

The series immediately opens behind the scenes of Lindsay’s post-rehab interview with Oprah. A determined, yet conversely fatigued Lindsay sits down with Oprah looking like Rodin’s The Thinker to discuss the goals that she has for their little collaboration. Lohan’s mug-shot orange dress signals the end of Lindsay Lohan: The Child Actor Gone Wrong and perhaps the birth of Lindsay Lohan: The Adult.

For years now, Lohan has drifted in and out of rehab, remaining a constant target for parasitic paparazzi—Harvey Levin of TMZ being one of the many larvae looking to exploit her struggles. And granted, Lindsay has fallen in a few trashcans and appeased her tormentors, but she’s still a human with genuine human emotions.

In a deeply emotional scene, about fifty-or-so days into the docu series, Oprah sits down with Lohan and blatantly asks her if she has stayed committed to her sobriety.  With a simple “Yes,” Oprah gets the answer she wanted and raises her hands to high-five the recovering starlet. An otherwise emotionless Lohan breaks down into tears. As it seems for the first time in her life, someone has supported her in trying to better herself.

Now in its fourth episode, ravenous media publications are eating up the show’s poor view counts. Having lived her entire life in the public eye, perhaps this waning interest will lead to waxing inner prosperity. LiLo born again.

From Cady Heron to Plastic and back again, Lindsay Lohan is capable of extreme transformations; this new endeavor with Oprah is just another role she’s been cast for. This time, however, Lindsay is her own leading lady free from counterproductive love interests and archetypical drug demons.
