GHOST WALK: Freshmen theater students participate in their first performance of the year.

On October 23, 24 and 28, 2015, selected Poly theater students will put on their first performance of the year at the annual Ghost Walk in Downtown Riverside.  During this Ghost Walk, six student-written and directed skits from six different locations around Riverside will be performed in front of a large crowd.

For Poly’s participating freshmen, the performance will not only be the first performance of the year but their first performance ever. Though this year’s freshmen are “in the dark” as to what it will be like to perform in this event, they are confident they will be able to perform well.  “Since I didn’t do [Ghost Walk] last year, I have no idea what to expect, but I’m going into it with the same mindset as I do for every performance, which is to entertain the audience and have fun doing it,” Cameron Webb (9) commented. “It is going to be my first real performance, so I am super excited and hope it turns out great,” Carlie Sweeney (9) added.

In preparation for their show, Poly’s theater group is working diligently, with everyone preparing in unison. Students Trinity Long (10) and Alyssa Johnson (10) are directing the participating students.   “I feel like we have a strong group so I think we’ll do well as a whole,”  Susana Toner (9) expressed.

For this year’s show, Poly students have whipped up several different stories to present, each incorporating elements of both comedy and horror.  Students will have a chance to both entertain and scare their captive audiences.  “Some are supposed to be funny, while others are supposed to seriously creep you out and scare you.  Either way, people will be scared during both kinds of stories,” Jeremy Perlstein (9) explained.

We can be sure that this year’s freshmen will put on a great show as they look to entertain Riverside citizens. “Any new place you perform at can make you anxious, but I think the fact that everyone gets along with each other and meshes so well will make this year’s performance a great show,”  Webb predicted.
