FUN: Poly Renaissance inspires school spirit through fun activities.

In a typical high school, school spirit is lackluster. However, Poly Bears are finding creative and amusing ways to bring it back to life. In an attempt to spread school-wide spirit, groups like Renaissance and Green Machine were created to play a key role in bringing together a more diverse group of students. For students who may not be a part of teams or other activities on campus, these groups provide opportunities to get involved. By hosting events like Poly Palooza, Renaissance hopes to bring all Poly students together to have some light-hearted fun.

On Friday October 10, Renaissance hosted a lunchtime activity that really got things pumping. The dance-off between students attracted a huge crowd near the Poly student store. “It was pretty cool; when ‘Anaconda’ came on everyone dropped it like it was hot,” Alexys Carrasco (12) said. Many students enjoyed the fact that this activity brought excitement to Poly’s campus. “It’s always refreshing when we see students getting really hyped over all things Poly,” varsity cheerleader Marisa Adams (12) expressed.

These  events and activities serve to promote a more friendly and inclusive school environment. Renaissance wants students to feel as comfortable as possible in their school environment. Poly Palooza was just the first of many events planned; Renaissance intends to host another palooza on October 31. “We hope that everyone comes out and dresses really crazy,” Renaissance member Derreck MacArthur (11) said.
