There are 16 high schools in Riverside County, and each one of them has outstanding athletes in every sport.  To be recognized as one of the best in Riverside is an amazing honor, and both Dylan McDowell (12) and Lauren Bywater (12) proudly represented Poly on May 16 at the Riverside Sport Hall of Fame’s induction ceremony.  “It is crazy to have been chosen to represent all of the amazing athletes at Poly.  My family and I are just super happy that I am able to be the representative for such a great group of kids,” Bywater said.

One boy and one girl nominee from every high school in Riverside were selected for the Parade of Champions. “Being chosen out of people I have played against and know how talented they all are makes me feel extremely honored,” Bywater stated.

While the students were not inducted into the Hall of Fame, this honor is a bit of a stepping stone for them.  “This recognition opened my eyes in aspiring to being inducted into the more prominent Riverside Hall of Fame,” McDowell said.

It is not just by chance that these two athletes were chosen. They both displayed characteristics of champions.  “Passion and desire at the base of hard work have helped me reach my goals. I aspire to use these characteristics to help me in college and later in life.” McDowell said.
