WOKOUT: Preseason practices begin for the boys’ track team.

By Franklin Racobs, Staff Writer

The boys’ track team hopes for another solid performance in the Inland Valley League by beginning their preseason practices for the upcoming 2015 season.

Since joining the Inland Valley League in the 2013 season, the boys’ track team has been very successful. In the 2013 season, the boys’ team became league champions and finished undefeated in the regular season. Last season, the team knew they had the potential and the talent to do as well as they did in 2013, and the boys were able to finish as league champions of the Inland Valley League for a second year in a row. As the 2015 season approaches, the team’s expectations remain the same.

According to varsity pole vaulter Zach Green (11), track and field has “a lot of track athletes that are involved with other seasonal sports.” It is essential for the athletes who solely participate in track to be a part of the preseason workouts. With a large amount of student athletes busy with their fall and winter sports, preseason practices require a strong attendance rate from the athletes who only run and compete in track and field.

The boys’ team needs these dedicated athletes to show up to practices and become the leaders and captains of the athletes involved in other sports. That way, the team can practice and work together to repeat the success they had in the previous two seasons. With leadership and dedication, the boys’ track team will have a successful 2015 season.
