Ever since the television show Gilmore Girls launched in 2000 on the Warner Bros. channel, fans were instantly hooked on watching each heartwarming and fast-paced episode. However, due to the changes in television trends and public interests, the show was cancelled after its seventh season and ended on bad terms with the fans. After seven years, Netflix is announcing that the iconic 21st century TV show will appear as a 90-minute, four episode series on its own network. This, as many have called it, is the “revival” of a show that inspired and connected not just mothers and daughters alike but families as well.

The show is famous for its hilarious comebacks and banter between the main character, Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her daughter, Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel). This mother-daughter duo is known for having a friendship like no other, all while dealing with the ups and downs of life. The girls experience everything from dating to first kisses to college applications to family drama. In addition to the strong bond with others in Lorelai Gilmore’s personal life, she is the manager and co-owner of the Dragonfly Inn along with her best friends, Michel and Sookie. The awakening of the show will bring back many beloved characters, including Luke Danes (Scott Patterson), the best friend and lover of Lorelai, Lane Kim (Keiko Agena), the best friend of Rory, and Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop), the mother with a complicated relationship with her daughter, Lorelai, among others who will be be featured in some or all of the episodes.

The generation of fans from the beginning of the show have been skeptical about whether or not Melissa McCarthy, who stars as Sookie St. James, the faithful companion to Lorelai, will return for the reunion of the show. There are some heated conversations among fans, however, according to tv.com she tweeted, ‘“Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!”’ Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator and director of the show, mentions in several sources that if Melissa McCarthy has extra time she can come and shoot a scene, but overall she thinks McCarthy is too busy filming movies and does not have the time to do so. As of right now, she will not star as the bubbly chef she once was.

The familiar theme song “Where You Lead” by Carole King is surely going to have fans reminiscing when they are watching the show on Netflix. They will definitely want to watch the final moments of the show through the lives of the mother-daughter duo and their surrounding family and friends. Speculations acknowledging where Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore’s relationship stands are supposed to be addressed in one of the four seasons of the mini movies: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. The newest generation has yet to experience this relatable and adventurous show that will make them laugh out loud in one way or cry in the other.
