Read about the best holiday traditions from the students all around Poly High School.
With Thanksgiving having just passed, and the New Years and Christmas time right around the corner, our Poly bears are sinking into their pajamas and Christmas spirit once more. The happiest time of the year is sneaking up on us and the yearly traditions are now coming into play. So what do our poly bears do over the holiday?
Many people like to stay at home and lay around the fireplace, whilst others like to sip hot cocoa and watch a fun movie, but there is more to Christmas than just relaxation. Senior Lilian Vassale says that her favorite holiday tradition is “going to church in Idlewild on every Christmas Eve”, she has been doing this with her family for the past 4-5 years. Since it is such a small church, Vassale says that everyone is so close within that community and it feels best around Christmas time.

When talking about holidays, most people take the safe options, but when interviewing sophomore Nathaniel James Firetag, he says he would enjoy thanksgiving more. When asked what his favorite holiday food was he said, “i’m vegetarian so the options are limited, but there is always pumpkin pie!” Thanksgiving has always been such a big holiday to spend time with your loved ones. Sophomore Sialea Martinez says that her favorite Thanksgiving tradition is making Mac & Cheese every year. Martinez says “I love cooking and having people enjoy my food,” when asked why she loves this tradition.
Being around your loved ones is always a time of joy and comfort, that is what people love the holidays for. Despite that, these holiday traditions mentioned by out poly students, are what really carry us through the seasons. The Poly bears come from all different cultures, places, and lives, but we are all brought together to celebrate one another and lead with love.
