Watch out rivals! The Riverside Poly High School girls’ varsity volleyball team is on a twelve game winning streak and they’re just getting started, who’s ready to take on these champions?

The Riverside Poly girls’ varsity volleyball team recently acquired their 13th consecutive win with an exciting 3:0 score against Arlington High School on 9/16. This streak of success highlights the team’s values and provides insight towards their hard work and dedication to their sport. By securing these victories, our girls have spread excitement across their school and community alike.

Led by head coach, Coach Manny Savalza, and assistant coach, Dana Fulwider, our girls have shown extraordinary skills with coordination, teamwork, and perseverance during games and practices alike. These skills are demonstrated on the court by the team’s ability to outscore their opponents with an average of 2.6 points per game during their recent series of success. A major key in their achievements  has been their success in CIF games, and their coaches’ support and help with improving their skill set.

Assistant coach, Dana Fulwider, proudly states that “we all want to win and to enjoy our time together, and I think that so far we are doing it,” embracing the team’s unity and triumph. Although last year’s season was “tough on many fronts,” the coaches and captains had created a game plan to overcome the challenges they faced, and improve to create “a better, stronger team culture”. Beginning their training in July, the coaches focussed on perfecting the basics and improving offense, while also “watching game film and deciding how they can match up their strengths with the other team’s weaknesses”.  Highlighting what she believes is the team’s key factors to their victories, Fulwider explains that “each of the players puts the team first” and “gives their best in practices and in games” showing off hard work and determination.

Come support the girls volleyball team at their upcoming game on September 26 as they seek to continue their winning streak! Varsity begins at 5:30. Purchase your tickets now on gofan.com.
