The Office Says “Goodbye”

Oct 8, 2012

After eight long, hilarious and touching years of NBC’s hit show The Office, it is time for it to call it quits with the long-awaited season nine. Creators Greg Daniels, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant kick start the final season with a captivating premiere.

The new season recaptures the “magic” that had begun to fade with the departure of Michael Scott (Steve Carell) late in the seventh season. This season the writers have taken a good, long listen to what the audience wanted and removed superfluous roles that harmed the show–I won’t say any names (Ryan and Kelly). This being the final season, fans can expect The Office to evoke a bit more sentiment and relevance. The masses have become so attached to this great show that it will be extremely difficult (or easy depending on how you look at it) to disappoint.

For nine years, audiences from around the world have tuned in to NBC every Wednesday to watch their favorite office bunch go about their unorthodox practices and sales methods, engaging in all sorts of comical mayhem and shenanigans. The Office will be rough for passionate fans to see their beloved show come to an end. I expect an extraordinary series finale and will come to miss the dramatic confrontations, office pranks and, of course, Jim Halpert’s sly stare into the camera.
