The newest season of Jujutsu Kaisen has been getting a lot of attention from anime fans, and most people agree that it feels way darker and more emotional than the earlier seasons. Season 1 focused on introducing the world and showing fun fights with characters like Yuji Itadori, the main protagonist, the new season dives deeper into character backstories and shows how dangerous the jujutsu world really is.

A big highlight has been the focus on Gojo’s past, which surprised fans by adding emotional depth and making the story feel more serious instead of just action-based. Ariel Connel (11) relays that the characters look “even better this season and it made [her] more excited”. The animation, handled again by MAPPA, the animation company, is still one of the biggest reasons people love the show, with fights looking cinematic and sometimes even movie-level, especially during intense battle scenes that went viral online.

However, some viewers have pointed out that certain episodes had uneven animation and pacing, which led to debates on social media about production pressure and whether the studio was rushing parts of the season. Keegan Torres mentions that there were many missing scenes and that “made a lot of the season upsetting to watch”, but despite the differences in animations, the “new season was better than the other ones.”
When comparing it to earlier seasons, fans are slightly split: some prefer Season 1 because it had simpler storytelling and more consistent pacing; while others think the new season is better because it has stronger character development, higher stakes, and shocking moments that really impact the story.

Overall, the general fan opinion is that this season feels like a turning point for the series, pushing it from a fun shonen anime into something darker and more emotionally heavy while still keeping the action that made it popular in the first place. If the rest of the season keeps this momentum, many fans believe it could end up being remembered as one of the strongest arcs in the entire series.
