Nyla Dadsi is gearing up for her fourth and final year in high school, she is filled with a mix of excitement and anticipation. With a whirlwind of activities and a passion-driven approach to her education, Nyla has found her footing in the halls of Poly High School, and it’s clear that she’s ready to make the most of her senior year and is sure to be an excellent addition to Poly Spotlight.
For Nyla, two extracurricular activities have been instrumental in fostering her confidence and independence: choir and mock trial. Nyla has been involved in choir since her freshman year and has found solace within the “welcoming community and acceptance that comes from both the students and the teachers.” Nyla has explained that her Choir teacher, Mrs. Walton, has had the most positive influence on Nyla throughout her high school experience, emphasizing how she feels she can confide in Mrs. Walton about anything and feels confident that she will be met with open ears and beneficial advice. Mock trial has also played a significant role in Nyla’s Poly history; mock trial has helped Nyla strengthen her outer voice and she has found freedom within the nomadic club. Nyla joined mock trial her sophomore year of high school and has never once regretted it. Participating in mock trial has offered a wide range of benefits that extend far beyond the courtroom. By being immersed within the intricacies of legal proceedings, Nyla has developed strong critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to craft compelling arguments. Mock trial has played a noteworthy role for Nyla as well when faced with the task of deciding her future.
Nyla’s enthusiasm for learning and personal growth is palpable. As she navigates her final year of high school, she’s focused on making the most of every opportunity that comes her way. After high school, Nyla hopes to attend UCLA and go on to become a lawyer. When talking to Nyla, it was clear that her enthusiasm for college stems from a desire to surround herself with like-minded individuals who share similar passions and interests. She’s eager to be part of a community that fosters personal growth, intellectual exploration, and meaningful connections, The prospect of being among people who understand and support her goals and values is a major draw for her, and she’s excited to see how this new environment will help shape her into the person she’s striving to become.
