In the first few weeks of the 2025-26 school year, Poly students share their goals for the future before they graduate with Poly Spotlight Staff Writers.
With the school year back in full swing, students all have goals that they wish to accomplish before they graduate. From small milestones to large leaps of victory, everyone at Poly has a goalpost in their mind. That is what our Poly Spotlight team asked students across campus, and the answers varied from small steps of improvement to grand dreams for the future. Below are students’ goals that go beyond getting good grades in their classes:
Madeline Ortiz (12): “I want to read all books and consume all media related to my major. I want to major in Psychology..it might change but I’m 95 percent sure I will major in that; hopefully by the end of the year I know and that’s a solidified decision.”
Xitlali Hurd (11): “Something I want to do before graduating is to make it to Masters, or possibly even State for wrestling. I’m very passionate about my sport and really just wanna give it everything I got to be able to achieve my goals. It drives me to do what’s best for myself every single day.”
Seth Rich-Neal (12): “I have always wanted to do a backflip, but I’ve been afraid to do it because of my height. But I know I can do it before graduation.”
Arich Cline (9): “I want to win a trophy for soccer and play for Poly. I have played for 10 years, and I’d like to pursue that in college.
Zoe Goodwin (11): “In high school, my goal is to enjoy each experience, view each challenge as a valuable lesson, and treasure the good moments. I feel like staying in the moment is most important to my success, even on the football team.”
Keynan Williams (10): “I want to go cliff jumping, probably with my friends.”
Caleigh Green (9): “I want to be in the yearbook for something unique.”
Alessandro Vidussi (12): “I would like to set up a big concert for Music Tech.”
Piper Peterson (12): “I want to sketch and design a full set for a Poly show.”
Raul Torres (11): “It would be cool to get at least 1000 monthly listeners for my band. It’s called Real Mature.”
Amarisse Cotton (12): “I want to eat the rib burger and try the brownie from the student store.”
Andrea Arce (12): “I want to step outside my comfort zone, meet new people, and go to more school events.”
