Boys soccer played an amazing, challenging game against Valley View Eagles!

On Wednesday, January 21 boys’ soccer team had a match against the Valley View Eagles. Despite taking a loss of 3:1, our boys worked incredibly hard, laying it all out on the field.

The crowd was full of enthusiastic parents and peers, displaying their support as Roman Solorzano scored a goal in the first half. The crowd watched as Poly’s defense was one for the books.

Senior Roman Solorzano admitted that he made himself proud with the goal scored and his team’s skills. When asking him about his most memorable moment in a match, he shared that scoring and being able to give it his all with his teammates was worth it, no matter the loss. Roman has enjoyed the sport since two years old, dedicating his time and effort to the game. Roman expressed that soccer has had many ups and downs, but overall, it taught him that hard work makes a difference. Roman shared the importance of keeping school first to maintain grades in order to keep playing soccer.

Junior Damian Sanches was asked to share some advice to those wanting to play soccer while maintaining good grades, to which he said, “focus because soccer depends on grades, effort, and attitude”. Damian shared that for him, trying his best and having a good mindset helped him get through the struggles of being a Student Athlete. Damian shared that his favorite memory from a match was contributing to a championship game, with the team winning one to zero. Damian wishes for everyone to fight hard and “fight through it all”.

Coach Ditta shares his thoughts with those interested in joining the boys’ soccer team.

Coach Ditta expresses his love for the game and the pride he has for the team. He ensures that the biggest thing they work on in practice is competition. Coach shares that it is important to have a good balance and to prioritize your responsibilities. Showing up every day and persevering is what matters and what makes a team. 

It is safe to say everyone is extremely proud of the boys, and we can’t wait to see what is next for their journey!
