Jan 24, 2014

MONEY: California continues its three-step plan to increase minimum wage.

By Timothy Chen, Staff Writer

Last September, Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill granting an increase in California’s minimum wage. Minimum wage will now increase exponentially in a time period of three years, growing from last year’s eight dollars an hour. It is expected to rise to nine dollars in July and finally to ten dollars in January 2016. This is the first time in six years California has increased minimum wage. Employers are now required to provide notice of the new wages in accordance with state law.
