DISNEY: Disney parks in California and Florida will repeat their successful ‘Disney Day’ promotion.

By Joann Lee, Staff Writer

Last year, the Disney parks in California and Florida stayed open for 24 hours in celebration of Leap Day. The promotion was called “One More Disney Day,” and included two parks: Disneyland in California, and Disney World in Florida. This year, the Disney parks are again opening for a full 24 hours, calling it the “Monstrous Summer All-Nighter” in reference to the upcoming Pixar movie, Monsters University. The announcement was made in late April at the Epcot Center in Florida, leaving masses of excited prospective park visitors to map out their 24-hour strategies. Last year’s “One More Disney Day” event gathered over 90,000 visitors in the Disneyland park alone, forcing the park to reject further entry during operating hours, a rare event in Disneyland history. Due to last year’s overwhelming popularity, Disney’s California Adventure Park will be open during the event in addition to Disneyland and Disney World. The “Monstrous Summer All-Nighter” event will take place May 24, six in the morning in each park’s respective time zone, and end after 24 hours of operation. Some concern was expressed about the date of the event since Disneyland set a graduation party on the same day. The Disney Company was quick to respond.

“Disneyland’s Grad Nite is also taking place the […] evening, May 24, at Disney California Adventure. As such, much of this park will be off-limits to those attending the ‘all-nighter.’ Beginning at 11 p.m. and continuing until 3 a.m., [certain areas] will be reserved only for those attending Grad Nite,” one of the official Disney blogs reported.

With Grad Nite occurring on the same day as the 24-hour event, the Disney parks are sure to be packed.
