The Editors

From here on, we will call the first girl “Girl A” and her friend (the one you were asked to take to Midwinter) “Girl B.” There are two distinct possibilities for your current situation. Either Girl A was sincere, or she was just pulling your leg. If she was sincere, then Girl B was possibly just too shy to ask you directly. It could also be possible that Girl A just wanted to mess with you and hoped to put you in an embarrassing situation. If you find that Girl A was just out to embarrass you, we would recommend taking anything she says to you from now on with a grain of salt. She doesn’t sound too credible if she intentionally attempts to put you in awkward situations.

However, you won’t know what’s really going on until you talk to Girl B. If she wanted to go to Midwinter and Prom with you, she might be upset that you did not ask her, so clearing up the misunderstanding may prove beneficial for the both of you. Assuming she initially wanted to go to the dances with you, she might be willing to go on a date with you. Just be confident and talk to her; there’s a possibility that she wanted to go to not one, but two dances with you.

Although Midwinter has passed, Prom is only a couple months away. You still have the opportunity to go to Prom with her if you find that the two of you click. We would recommend that you take Girl B on a few dates to see if you have chemistry in order to avoid an awkward time at Prom. However, if Girl A was just messing with you, there is still plenty of time to find a Prom date. A lack of straightforward communication appears to be the real issue here. A simple conversation can easily clear up all misunderstandings.
