With another year of performing at the RUSD Theatre Festival and with no doubt about it, Poly came home as winners from their outstanding talents. This Festival is held every year, and it is when many dedicated drama students come together to compete. The festival was held at Arlington High School where several schools’ theatre programs were attended as well as Romona, King, Arlington, North, and Poly. Each competitor was to showcase their singing, acting, designing, and more. All performers signed up for the categories that they were auditioning for, and the competition was decided between three rounds.

Students from all high schools were scattered around the school unveiling the strong points that each of them had. In different classrooms were the various categories; musical solos, original works, sound/makeup designing, and acting.

The students were judged based on the energy put into these performances, the character building, and precision. The beginning two rounds were all about group works, solos, and presentations; while the third round consisted of all school meetings back into the Arlington Theatre where this grand round was held. All theater programs have produced small plays and musicals, each school performed a musical scene from a show that was put on in their school. This round was the most entertaining since everyone got the chance to see snippets of several sequences. The high schools performed scenes from The Little Mermaid, Head Over Heels, Cinderella, and of course, Lightning Thief brought to you by our Theatre program.
