Letting go is hard to do, but anyone will tell you that. Ask yourself what hurts more: having him around although he does not treat you very nicely or not having him around at all? Do not let yourself be idle while you are getting over this boy. Surround yourself with loving friends and family. Perhaps you may even find a new crush. Sometimes, finding someone new can be a very helpful way to get over someone else. However, you should make sure that if this new someone does not stick around, you won’t be worse off than you were before he came into your life.

In a song about his ex, Eminem shouts, “I hate you! I hate you! I swear to God I hate you! Oh my God. I love you.” That line goes to show that you are not alone in feeling this way about an ex. When someone steals your heart, he (or she) gains a lot of control over your emotions. Because of this, you can love someone with all your heart, and still get mad at him (or her) for hurting you or confusing you. As the hate and love intertwine, it creates a beautiful passion, but sadly it often leads to disaster.

Reverse your situation. Imagine that he broke up with you. Imagine the hurt you would feel, and the anger and confusion. Was your reason for breaking up a valid reason? This boy has feelings too, and they are just as real as yours. He probably feels like he hates and loves you at the same time as well. He might have thought things were going fine. In any case, boys, I find, are masters of masking their emotions; the break-up could have hurt him more than he let on.
