Middle school is the time during which tweens shed their elementary school skins and over-exaggerate the stereotypes of high school. Practically everyone is available to be in a relationship; that’s what it’s all about — and I am not just talking about the hokey-pokey. Having a girlfriend or boyfriend whenever possible is the norm in seventh and eighth grade.

In high school, people tend to become more mature; maybe it’s the air or the lunch food. By senior year, high school students realize that life is not all about impressing other people. Not everyone is in a relationship; not everyone dresses the same; not everyone listens to the same music.

A fulfilling life is determined by how well you live by your own morals and values and how much time you spend with the people you care about. Now, Awkward Senior, you must pick and choose what is important to you. Would you rather have 20 different girlfriends in one month or wait and find that special someone who you can be in a relationship with for months, years or even a lifetime?

The decision is yours; you get to choose what kind of relationship you want to be in. You can even choose to be single-then, you will not have to compromise with anyone. Just remember, the world is your oyster!
