Madam CJ Walker’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and innovation. Born Sarah Breedlove in 1867 on a Louisiana plantation, she faced unimaginable challenges including poverty, racism, and sexism. Despite these obstacles she rose to become one of the wealthiest self-made women of her time and left an indelible mark on American business, culture, and society.

Walker’s Journey began when she developed a line of hair care products specifically designed for African American women, who were often excluded from mainstream beauty products. Her “Wonderful Hair Grower” became a huge success, and she went on to found the Madam CJ Walker manufacturing company, which made her one of the first African American female millionaires. She built a network of sales agents known as “Walker Agents”, who Sold her products door-to-door and became empowered entrepreneurs in their own right.
